Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

I write to introduce the ‘Joglers’ with a motive, to be frank, to seek your support by persuading you to make a financial donation to our chosen charity, Salisbury Hospice.

The Salisbury RFC ‘Joglers’ are a group of retired and playing Salisbury rugby players of ‘mature’ years who have foolishly agreed to cycle from John O Groats to Lands End in an attempt to ward off a mid-life crisis.

The event, named ‘The Jogle’ to encompass the start and end destinations, will take place during the first two weeks of August 2008. The cyclists themselves are donating the total cost of participation in the event. This is to include, flights north, all overnight accommodation together with all expenses between the 'start' and 'finishing' lines. The group will be cycling approximately 70 miles per day, accompanied by a support vehicle generously supplied by John Ford of Andover.

In an attempt to make the whole exercise anything other than futile, the ‘Joglers’ have decided to try to raise as much money as possible for Salisbury Hospice.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Salisbury Hospicecare Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!

About the charity

The hospice costs £2.9 million to run, with Salisbury Hospice Charity aiming to raise £1.5 million of the funding required. Over 1,000 people a year are helped both in the hospice and in the wider community. Without your help this could not have been achieved. Thank you.
