Lymph Node Analyser Appeal- We have beaten our original target of £80,000. We have now raised £105,000. (In addition to the 79,920 raised through this appeal the hopsital had 21K already donated to the unti) the

New target £130,000.

We have money to buy the analyser and pay for oncosts for two years. We are now supporting the hospital in funding the technician. We will continue to raise money for additional equipment needed for patients in LBB.

Thank you to The Orpington Choral for recently raising £550, family friends in Lake Nona, Florida for donating £1,000 and John Sunley for £2,000.

In addition to the 76,920 raised through this appeal and events an additional 21K had already been collected by the Unit.

The Glades Shopping Centre Bromley is now going to support the appeal! Just fantastic news.

I cannot believe the kindness and support everyone in our community- friends and family, have given to this appeal- I am crying as I write this message! xx

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Gala Concert in aid of this appeal. It was an amazing night. Total raised on the night will be confirmed shortly but we achieved way beyond our £10,000 target.

Forty Five professional musicians from National Orchestras and West End Shows gave up their time to entertain us with the most incredible standard of playing- covering Film Tunes and Sinatra songs to West End Shows!

There will be more events coming up! Keep checking this page!

Hi, my name is Sam, I am 41 years old, I live in Bromley with my husband and son. I am headteacher of a primary school. In September 2009 I became concerned about a lump in my breast; I play a lot of hockey and presumed I had torn a muscle! Well I am only 41 it could not possibly be anything else!

In October 2009 I was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer, my world was turned upside down.

On October 29th I underwent a full mastectomy and my sentinel lymph node was removed for testing to see if the cancer had spread. I was in theatre for five hours and spent ten days in hospital recovering. I then had another two agonising weeks waiting for the sentinel node results. Had the cancer spread? How far had it spread? The result came back positive. I was scared. As a result I underwent additional surgery to have my lymph nodes removed. Another general anaesthetic, further time in theatre and on the ward recovering and additional time off work. As the result was positive I was now facing a heavy regime of chemotherapy.

My consultant, Mr Anil Desai, told me of a Lymph Node Analyser which could be used during a patients first surgery, whereby the sentinel node can be analysed on the spot- no agonising two week wait for results, no additional surgery, as lymph node removal could be done immediately and no delay to imminent chemotherapy- BUT presently there is no funding available to rent the analyser.

We have now raised £105,000 to pay for the analyser and oncosts for two years. This will allow us time to provide evidence to show the financial benefits to the hospital and more importantly the improvement in treatment time and care for breast cancer patients receiving treatment in The London Borough of Bromley.

We will be organising a number of events to raise money. Watch this page for further details.
