Story

NEWS FLASH : Kirstie Goodland and Aislinn Kelly are also supporting the DSA by running the Greenwich Half Marathon (Run To The Beat) on Sunday 27th September your donations will be greatly appreciated

As most of you know, on 16th April 2008, our lovely boys, Harry & Josh were born.  On 17th April 2008, we were told that Josh had Down's Syndrome.  We felt such a mixture of emotions, from being completed elated at the arrival of our beautiful boys to feeling completely numb and in a state of shock and apprehension on discovering that Josh had Down's Syndrome, a disability neither of us know anything about.

The DSA were quickly introduced into our lives and were fantastic in the support and advice they gave us.  From reading their brochures, going onto their website and chatting to other parents going through the same experience, we went from feeling upset and unsure to optimistic and really excited as to what the future might hold for both Josh and Harry!

Over the last year, we have been given the most amazing support - from the DSA, our local Special Needs Association and Great Ormond Street Hospital and I would really like to do something special in return, but need your help.

Please sponsor me what ever you feel you can afford, any amount would be really gratefully received.  With your help, I have already smashed my original target of £1,000, so am now aiming to raise £2,000 by the end of this year.

After featuring in our local paper, I was contacted by a lovely lady called Kim (a very good, experienced runner) who was inspired by our story and keen to raise some money herself - she came to meet the boys (armed with presents and a lovely cake) and we ran our 1st 10k race together at Woodley.  So and extra thanks to all those who have supported Kim - your generosity is amazing!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Down's Syndrome Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

THANK YOU - if you would like to come to any of the races to cheer me on, please let me know and I will send you a full list of where I'll be racing x
