Story
National Animal Welfare Trust is a Rescue and Rehoming charity; caring for and rehoming up to 1800 animals a year. We care for animals who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own, bring them back to good health, train them and finally find them a loving forever home. We never stop caring and are here as long as an animal needs us, offering continued support to everyone that rehomes a pet. Our mission is to promote responsible pet ownership throughout the UK so that one day every pet might have the responsible owner they deserve.
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page! My name is Sam and I've worked for the National Animal Welfare Trust Heavens Gate centre (Somerset) for just over 4 years now. On June the 16th I'll be running the Midnight Sun Marathon in Norway with my friend, Heather. I've previously completed half marathons but this will be my first marathon and I've been training hard since January. The race starts at 8.30pm, so runners run overnight and finish in the early hours of the morning. It is the world's northern most marathon and is certainly going to be a big challenge!
I'm running for the fun of it (!) but would also like to raise some money to help build a couple of new kennels on a spare patch of land here at the centre. These kennels will be built specifically for dogs that will be with us that bit longer and need a quieter space. Possibly one for a dog to live in full time and a second as a time out space to give a few hours of daily quiet time to numerous dogs. These kennels have the potential to make a huge difference to the lives of these dogs whilst they are in our care. Ultimately, they will aid us to move forward with their training and help us keep them content until we find their forever homes. We always have dogs here that will benefit from this so they will always be useful.
Those who know me will know how passionate I am about the care of the longer term doggies here so please, donate if you can or spread the word if you can't. All your support is very much appreciated :)
