Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  On Sunday 7th Sept 2008, I will be taking part in the Adidas Womens 5K Challenge 2008 to raise money for Action Duchenne, a charity that helps to raise funds for research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a muscle wasting disease that affects mainly boys and sadly, something my family first heard of in 1996 when my cousin Khushpal was diagnosed. 

My brother Aaron and my cousin Khushpal were born 4 days a part in Dec 1990.  At 9 years old,  I was over the moon to have two little babies around to play with and "look after". Out went all my dolls and in came helping mum and aunty.

Aaron and Khushpal did everything together. They had to have the same outfits, the same toys and go to the same places. As Aaron started walking and then running around, Khushpal didnt. For years, everyone just thought that Khushpal was a little lazy and didnt really like running around like Aaron did but eventually, Khushpal was diagnosed with DMD. Sadly, he has now deteriorated as predicted without the presence of a cure and is in a motorised wheelchair whilst slowly loosing muscle in his upper body too.

There are many families who are desperate for a cure for DMD for their little boys so please help me to support this charity by sponsoring me for the Adidas Women's 5K challenge.
