Story
My mother Dorothy died of cancer 5 years ago. Instead of people sending flowers she wanted donations made to the Rainbow Trust. My mother was an amazing compassionate woman with a fantastic sense of humour.
I was diagnosed with cancer nearly 2 years ago and as a result started to run.
I wanted to do something in memory of my mother and running the marathon for the Rainbow Trust on my 50th birthday, also celebrating my own health seems to tick all the right boxes.
Having nursed my mother and then been ill myseif I realised that what I needed when I was nursing my mother was someone to talk to, to tell me what was going to happen next. Someone to listen to my fears and let me cry without me having to worry about upsetting them. Also to be able to leave the house for a break knowing that she would be safe and cared for.
The Rainbow Trust does all this and gives such incredible support to the whole family at such a tragic and vulnerable time.
I am now also running in memory of my brother James who sadly died in February.

Thank you for your support.
