Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I have decided to dedicate this challenge to my Grandad and for the other people in my life who have sadly died from this disease, together with the people who i know that are battling it at the moment.
For people who know me well, they will be shocked that i'm even contemplating sleeping in a tent for 6 nights but I suppose that's what's going to make it a challenge, not to mention whole days treking instead of being sat at my desk! However this is nothing compared to what the people i'm fundraising for have to go through.
Marie Curie employs more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, and expect to provide care to around 27,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in Marie Curie hospices this year, along with support for their families. The services are always free of charge to patients and their families, which means that in 2008-9, they will need to raise more than £115 million.
Every £20 raised will enable a Marie Curie Nurse to provide one hour of support to a terminally ill patient.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Marie Curie will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in gift aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So Please dig deep and support me in this really good cause.
Thanks Sara
