Story
For a good while when I was growing up, my family's weekends revolved around Special Olympics. My brother (in the cover pic) is a decades-long Special Olympics athlete in swimming, field hockey, basketball (multi-sport lets gooo šŖ). My mom was an organizer for our hometown team. I was a volunteer coach. During one of the tournaments, I coached a team that would get so excited after every basket that the whole team would do a victory lap around the court!! It was devastating for our defense during the next possession but it was the highlight of my basketball career.
I feel so strongly that sports are one of the secrets to life! Basketball makes me so happy!!! My brother found his best friends on these sports teams, for real.
So I just wanted to say thank you for supporting this organization that gives me, my brother, and literal millions of folks with disabilities across the GLOBE so much joy and agency and freedom.
And come see me run 26.2 miles during the 2023 New York City Marathon on November 5th! ā¤ļø
