Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

On Saturday 27th September 2008 a very special young man passed away in Pendlebury Childrens Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

My 16 year old nephew Ben Sims has suffered with Crohn's disease for many years making a normal life very difficult for him and for nearly 4 weeks previous to his death Ben was expertly cared for by the wonderful staff at Pendlebury's ICU department.

Ben had been taken to hospital suffering from an infection and was operated on as an emergency but unfortunately never recovered. The staff in ICU never gave up and tried every option possible to save Ben's life but a further infection in his lungs proved to be too much for his already fragile body to cope with.

I have set this page up to honour Ben's memory and raise awareness for the incredible work carried out by the angels that dedicate thier lives to looking after Manchester's sick and injured children.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Manchester Children's Critical Care Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for your support.
