Story

In Autumn 2010, I will be swapping the classroom for the glaciers of Antarctica with an educational charity called the Fuchs Foundation.  Basecamp will be a largely unexplored region of the continent, carrying out scientific research which will then be filtered down to students. Follow my progress at www.sir-in-antarctica.com

Sir Vivian Fuchs showed a generation of school children a sense of curiosity, self reliance, self determination and challenge.  In hismemory, the Fuchs Foundation has been set up to inspire future generations by sending teachers to the Polar Regions to carry out scientific projects in hostile environments.

Unfortunately, expeditions in Antarctica do not come cheap, with a five figure sum the overal target.  If you feel you or your company can help as a major sponsor, please contact me at tmiall@twyford.ealing.sch.uk.  Major sponsors will have options of their compamy name on equipment, website and at publicity events.  A flag held up in Antarctica would be the perfect publicity photo for your company!

London 10km penguin extravaganza!!! In June,

John, Paul, Richard and myself ran (waddled) the London 10km in a penguin outfit to raise more money for the antarctica expedition.  Please sponsor TEAM PENGUIN

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Fuchs Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

The Foundation sends young science and geography teachers to the Polar Regions to carry out science projects in the world's harshest conditions for their own personal development so that they inspire their students and others in education, producing national curriculum teaching resources which are available free on the Foundation's website.
