Story

CUT TO THE CHASE--- I'M DOING A 10K FOR BRAKE CHARITY (see below). BASICALLY I WAS VERY LUCKY TO SURVIVE A MOTORBIKE ACCIDENT LAST SEPTEMBER. 6 LONG MONTHS ON I'M 80% RECOVERED AND DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING FOR A RELATED CHARITY. SO PLEASE DIG DEEP AND DONATE NOW.

The 10K for Men is organised by Men's Health Forum Scotland (MHFS) and our partners. It is held every year on the last day of National Men's Health Week, which is also Fathers Day.

The first MHFS 10K for Men was held in June 2006, and we are now in the process of organising the fifth annual event for 20th June 2010.  The event will be held at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow and starts at 10:00hrs

MHFS 10k for Men aims to:

  • raise the profile of men's health in Scotland
  • engage men of all ages and abilities in healthy activity
  • provide a major focus for National Men's Health Week
    • raise awareness of Men's Health Forum Scotland

Brake is a national road safety charity that works to stop death and injury on UK roads and to support people who have been bereaved or injured by a road crash. Brake runs Road Safety Week, a national awareness-raising initiative in schools, companies and communities, conducts research into the cause of crashes to inform the government and road users, runs an education service for employers to teach them about their responsibilities for safety when running fleets of vehicles and shouts loudly in the media about the importance of road safety to influence drivers to take more care.
