Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page
Help me climb a mountain for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
My Challenge
In October I’m taking on my challenge of a lifetime. I’ll be trekking for two weeks in The Kingdom of Bhutan; “the land of the thunder dragon”, a land locked country in the Himalayas. I will be trekking via the 'Mount Chomolhari Approach', which is a demanding trek into a remote area. It will involve nine nights of camping, cold nights, possibly wet, high altitude (we reach over 5,000m) and long days.
Why am I doing it?
In March 2007 Sir Ranulph Fiennes faced his own fears and conquered the North Face of the Eiger for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Listening to Sir Ranulph talk about his vertigo struck a chord. As a fellow sufferer I felt inspired to face my own fears and take on a personal challenge of my own for Marie Curie Cancer Care, a charity I too care deeply about.
What can you do?
I would be thrilled if you could sponsor me and raise much needed funds for this wonderful cause.
The work you will be supporting
Research had shown that 64% of us would choose to die at home; sadly only 25% of us will achieve this wish - with the majority of us dying in hospital, precisely the place people with cancer don’t want to be.
Marie Curie Delivering Choice Programme aims double the number of terminally ill people dying at home. With an amazing arrange of projects, including ‘flying nurses’ who respond to emergency calls and dedicated ambulances this project will change the face of end of life care across the UK.
