Story

Steve & John pledge that if we reach the target of £5,000 we will both commit an act of gross misconduct and behave in a shameless manner...

We will swap football shirts - Steve will wear a Newcastle shirt and John a Sunderland shirt for the entire 13 miles of the Great North Run!

Please understand the brevity of these actions: Here are 2 men that cannot conduct a conversation with each other of more than 3 sentences without descending into mindless ribbing about their football allegiance.

The passion and rivalry of the 2 clubs and their supporters is well documented. Steve's toilet door bears the sign 'St James' Park' and his garden is home to a turnstile from Roker Park. John secretly (un-beknown to Jill) named his sons after famous Newcastle players.

All of the money raised will go to Rainbows, the only hospice for children and young people in the East Midlands.  The incredible team there help to relieve symptoms, improve quality of life and support parents and siblings through their bereavement and care for children until the end.  For more information please go to: www.rainbows.co.uk.

About the charity

As the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people, we brighten the short lives of babies, children and young people who come to Rainbows. We want them to have fun and make special memories. We are also here to support their loved ones through the most difficult times of their lives.
