Story
Hello everyone,
Thank you for visiting my just giving page.
Why a marathon? Ok so its one of those things on the old life list and yes maybe now a couple of months into the training schedule I am beginning to think what have I let myself in for. However challenges are there to be conquered so on the 2nd November I will be running alongside some of the top marathon runners in the world.......well OK not quite along side but only because they are allowed a 20 minute head start!
On getting my own entry into the marathon I was originally running purely for personal reasons, however since then I thought it would be an opportunity to raise some much needed funds for a charity that is now close to my heart. In addition to which just in case this is my first and last marathon I thought it best as many people as possible benefit from the experience.
The Prostate Cancer Charity is the's leading charity focused specifically on prostate cancer. In the Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in men, 35,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. One man dies from prostate cancer every hour, that's 10,000 men each year. The charity help fund Research into the causes of, treatments of and impact of living with prostate cancer, they also provide the only wide prostate cancer helpline. If you would like to find out more please visit their website (www.prostate-cancer.org.uk)
Why is my target £1,000.00, well it is because that figure supports a week's worth of research into treating advanced prostate cancer. So in comparison to what many people have to go through with cancer, running 26.2 miles should be easy! Please dig deep and sponsor me online now.
Donating through Just giving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: I have a my own guaranteed entry to the race so have not had to get my race entry through the charity itself, therefore all funds raised will go direct to the Charity. The Prostate Cancer Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re ataxpayer, Just giving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
