About Parish Church of St Thomas, Stourbridge
St Thomas’ is a Grade 1 listed Georgian building. It has a very special plaster barrel vault ceiling (not unlike that of St Martin’s in the Fields, London) and some fine stained glass windows. The church plays an important role in the life of the town centre of Stourbridge.
Because of its age, it is in continual need of repair and maintenance to preserve its heritage. We have made steady progress in repairing the external fabric of the church and securing the integrity of the building but there is so much more to do.
Our next projects include a full renovation of the organ (estimated cost £150,000 to £200,000), improvements to lighting and sound systems and installation of a new audio visual system.
Raising funds through donation for the upkeep of the church is only one aspect of our life and work. We support many local, national and international charities through our own fund raising events. We have a thriving music tradition with an all-age choir and hold regular choral, Eucharist and family services. We have a dedicated team of volunteers who keep our church running for the benefit of the local community and visitors.
The above would not be possible without the continual giving from our congregation. The above and more is possible with your one-off donation or, better still, regular giving. Please contact us (details on our website) if you would like further information about our work and mission - we would love to hear from you.
