Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I have decided to follow the example of others and mark my 50th birthday by contributing something positive to others in need.
It was hard to decide which charity to support, but I have chosen Home-Start UK which is a national charity helps families in need. My family is the most important part of my life and I am so very lucky to have such a loving, caring, supportive [and fun!] extended family and I want to make a positive difference to other families too.
I am supporting the Richmond branch which was set up in 1995 and last year helped 120 local families, including 240 children. It has 60 home-visiting volunteers who spend a few hours a week helping familes with children under 5. Home-Start UK have agreed that all the money I raise will be given to the Richmond branch, so if you donate via this page your money will directly help those in my local community who need support.
You can find out more about Home Start from their website www.home-start.org.uk.
Also you can find out more about the Richmond branch at http://homestart-richmond.org.uk/main/welcome/
I plan to organise a number of fund raising opportunities throughout the year, including climbing the 3 peaks in September, but perhaps more importantly I have been accepted and trained as a home start volunteer for the Richmond branch. This involves supporting a family by visiting them for half a day every week - being an extra pair of hands, someone to talk to and just 'being there' for them.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Home-Start Richmond will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
