Story
A gaggle of Yorkshire puddings, amateur fell-wanderers, and even a Southerner or two are heading over the border to climb Ben Nevis AKA British Everest. This 1,344m beast will no-doubt prove a good challenge for our intrepid wanderers some of which haven't exercised since the 90's.
We are raising money to help the people of Nepal; two of our group were in the country when the massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck on 25th April 2015 and witnessed the devastation first-hand. The country is still experiencing aftershocks, and with monsoon season now well underway, getting help to those who need it is vital. Many villages are totally inaccessible by road and are now getting desperate.
The Nepalese people are some of the poorest on Earth, however are without question the nicest and most genuine you will ever meet. Wherever you go you will be met with a friendly and unconditional 'Namaste' and a heart-warming smile. We therefore urge you to donate to the Disasters Emergency Committee who coordinate and distribute money to charities on the ground such as Oxfam, Red Cross, Save The Children, World Vision and many others in the most efficient way.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Plus if you are a British tax resident , you can use GiftAid (at no cost to you) to boost your donation by 25% - yay!
Thank you all for your help, it means the world to us, and it could mean someone's life over in Nepal.
