My gran was diagnosed with vascular dementia in December 2008 and until then I knew very little about dementia and naively persumed it involved older people becoming a bit more 'forgetful'.  Now I am aware of what having dementia really means and although my gran is still with us her quality of life will never be the same again. 

Although the thought of running 1k, never mind 10k, makes me feel sick I wanted to do something to help raise money for Alzheimer Scotland, a charity which helps people like my gran who are suffering from this horrific illness.  The charity also helps the carers of these people who have to go through the trauma of watching their loved ones suffering.  If you could even donate a couple of pounds it would be very much appreciated.
