Well COVID-19 certainly threw a spanner in the works didn't it?! 

With the main event being cancelled and a virtual option being offered, I will now be running and walking the 26.2 miles to ensure that I cover the Marathon distance.  This wasn't the original plan but I want to do this so that I dont let my chosen charity down, so I'll be covering the miles no matter what! 👊🏃‍♀️ x

As a proud serving Police Officer, not a day goes by where I don't think about my family and realise how grateful I am for the tremendous support and care that they give to me.  I have chosen to support Care of Police Survivors. (COPS) as the support that they give to the families of fallen Police Officers is invaluable. 💙🚔👮‍♀️💙

COPS is a UK charity dedicated to helping to rebuild the lives of families of police officers who have lost their lives in relation to their duty.

Police forces do not have the resources to maintain support beyond the immediate aftermath of the death of an officer. Support to families can only be offered for a limited time and forces can struggle to achieve the long term contact and care they would like.

This is where COPS can help by managing the transition from intensive force support to lifetime COPS engagement. 

COPS arrange local and national events that enable survivors to build friendships and bonds that support them through good times and bad. For those who need additional support, COPS provide access to professional guidance and counselling through their partners RedArc and Winston’s Wish.

Fundraising and kind donations allow COPS to organise events such as the annual Survivor Weekend, which provides the surviving families, the police family and the public an opportunity to remember those officers and loved ones who have lost their lives on duty. As well as other peer support weekends throughout the year which are instrumental in helping the families of fallen officers.
