Story

Giselle Rozzell sponsored swim for the MS therapy centre on 24th June

Hi my name is Giselle I was diagnosed with primary progressive ms in Nov 2012. I was 49 at the time .

multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease which effects the nervous system where the nerves attack the immune systems. symptoms vary from one person to another mainly causing fatigue pain and balance issues which in turn can cause numerous mobility issues .

Since been diagnosed I have attended the ms centre where I have joined physio classes to help with balance. I also do weekly oxygen which is in a compression tank under pressure breathing pure oxygen through a face mask . This helps me enormously with fatigue, balance and posture .

Recently I have taken up my love of swimming and have found this to be a great form of exercise. I also have joined a weekly aqua aerobics class .which is not only fun but strengthens my muscles.

The ms centre relies heavily on donations as it isn't supported by the NHS and costs a lot to run on a daily basis. Many people benefit from the centre not only from the numerous therapies that are offered but also meeting a and sharing with others over a cuppa !

I would really love it if you could spare some pennies for my sponsored swim where I am going to push myself to swim 20 lengths of the pool. I would also like to thank Ali and the team at Riverside for allowing me use of the pool and supporting me on my journey.
