Story
For 2025's 24 Hours of Doctor Who, the University of Southampton Doctor Who Society has elected to raise money for victims of domestic abuse. This is a huge issue that, according to the latest Office for National Statistics figures (2022/23), impacts 751,000 men (3.2%) and 1.38 million women (5.7%).
We will be hosting 24 hours of non-stop events starting from 6:30pm on the 1st of March, and finishing at 6:30pm on the 2nd, with events ranging from a quiz to a live performance of Doctor Who's 2011 episode 'The Curse of the Black Spot'. For this, all we ask is that you donate a little money to help make the world a little better.
Our chosen charities are Refuge (which helps female victims of abuse) and the Mankind Initiative (which helps male victims), and so we kindly request that you aim to keep the donation counts at a roughly 2:1 ratio to reflect the fact that the ratio of domestic abuse victims is 2:1 female:male.
Both of these charities are amazing and we thank you in advance for your generous donations of any amount!
