We are a 24 hour search & rescue service to save lives at sea

Story

Too many people are still drowning. More than ever we need the RNLI’s help. As a charity, the RNLI depends on our donations so it can go on saving lives and keeping us and our loved ones safe. RNLI lifesavers are our lifeline.

2nd Elm Park Cubs will be taking on a challenge inspired by influencers from zoom sessions held by cub leaders during lockdown. The pack were unable to meet face to face due to restrictions so instead the Cub leaders set up weekly zoom sessions which ranged from artists to recycling. However, two influencers who stood out were Chris the Coast Walker who told his story and how he planned to walk almost 11,000 miles of mainland Britain to raise funds for Children in Need, for more information and to support this great charity please visit https://thecoastwalker.com/

Another influencer was Colin from RNLI who discussed the struggles of raising funds and the amazing work they do at sea to save lives, providing 24 hours search and rescue around the UK and Ireland. The lifeguards keep watch on 240 of the busiest beaches in the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI safety teams and educators working tirelessly to stop people getting into trouble in the first place. More information can be found at https://rnli.org/

The pack will take on the challenge, to walk the boarder of Elm Park twice (as they are the 2nd Elm Park) to raise funds for RNLI. This year was an important year to support such a charity because of the amount of visitors predicted to visit the coast in the UK due to travel restrictions around the world.

The route around the boarder of Elm Park is about 4.3k. The cubs plan to walk one lap together before the end of June and another lap to be completed by the cubs individually in their own time.

The cubs hope to raise as much money as they can!
