Story
Did you know that since the start of the COVID -19 pandemic, twice as many adults in Britain have reported symptoms of depression.
We cannot underestimate the impact that the pandemic has had on nations mental health - whether that’s the loss of a loved one, the impact of lockdown or recession we are now in. This is why a group of 6 of us including, Charlie Cooke, Dave Roadhouse, Jake Wych, Charlie Wilson, Charlie Purvis and Louis Gallagher, are attempting to raise money for ‘Mind in Somerset’ by climbing Scotland, England and Wales’s tallest mountains in three consecutive days.
Mind in Somerset are a mental health charity that’s purpose is to provide free advice and support for ANYONE who is suffering with a mental health problem in Somerset. Something as simple as a phone call to someone that will listen is enough to save a life. With the stigma around mental health slowly clearing it means that more and more people are beginning to go to charities like Mind for help. They offer a free 24 hours a day, 7 days a week phone line for people in need, as well as group or one to one sessions.
As six active and healthy males, we are going to tackle the three peaks in three days challenge, which will consist of over a thousand miles of driving and a trek on foot of over 20 miles climbing a total of 11,000 feet above sea level.
We would love for people to donate whatever money they can spare during these difficult times, to provide this local charity, which is close to so many peoples hearts , with important funding to help them carry on there amazing work.
