Story
This International Women's Day, I'm supporting UN Women's critical work to improve the lives of women and girls around the world.
The CBLA Social Committee selected this organisation in conjunction with International Women’s Day, and to support refugees from Ukraine.
With just $10 from every CBLA employee, we can reach a goal of $1000.
From UN Women Australia:
Recent estimates indicate that 54 per cent of people in need of assistance from the ongoing crisis are women. More than 2.3 million refugees from Ukraine – the vast majority women and children – have fled to neighbouring countries, while others remain internally displaced. These numbers are expected to increase significantly as the offensive continues.
For the emergency appeal: "UN Women is working closely with women’s civil society organisations, UN Resident Coordinators, and UN Country Teams in Ukraine and neighbouring countries in monitoring the situation to determine how to best meet the growing needs of women and girls.
In Moldova, our team is planning targeted interventions and developing our humanitarian response for refugees from Ukraine."
UN Women Australia focuses on Leadership, Ending Violence, Sustainable Development Goals and Emergency Response (including Covid-19, Ukraine and Afghanistan).
