Story
The witches on tour are Jane Williams, Tanith Galer, Sally Anderson and Kirsty Sullivan and we are taking on this challenge in memory of David Anderson. David was Jane and Sal's dad, and Kirsty and Tanith's uncle and he lived with Parkinsons Disease for the last years of his life. We love a challenge but this is longest distance any of us have taken on.
Kirsty works in museum learning, blogs and makes ridiculous things from crochet. 'A long walk' was on her 50th birthday bucket list, and having done two night time marathons in London she decided to up her game and double the distance. She may regret this.
Tanith is the shortest and youngest of the group, and is clearly easily led into mad situations. She has run a couple of marathons, far too many half marathons but never trail run. She is blotting out the overnight camping after 50k in a classic ostrich manner. She hopes that her work colleagues understand that she will be permanently hungry for the next 6 months.
Sally is living proof that oldest isn’t necessarily wisest, and that peer pressure can be overwhelming at any age. Able to remember running 10km in 2017 she decided “it’ll be fine” to take on 100km.
Jane is the tallest cousin of the four. Not difficult really. Happy to run or walk anywhere, any time usually with dogs in tow. Looking forward to the challenge. Loves camping. Might get distracted by wildlife or dogs en-route. Dad would have loved an adventure like this.
We'll be walking 100km over two days in July, doing the Race to the Stones.
Setting off from Lewknor in Oxfordshire, the adventure into the North Wessex Downs begins. Wandering through golden corn, vast fields and stunning countryside as far as the eye can see. From the Uffington White Horse to Liddington Castle, the journey promises to be rich in both history and breath taking scenery. Let's hope we're not too knackered to appreciate it!
