There are currently 2.5 million people in the UK living with sight loss; every six minutes someone is told they are going blind. This figure is expected to grow to 3.5 million by 2050; and yet our services are already struggling with the ever increasing demands as our population ages.

A recent report looking into the impact of sight loss found that

2 in 5 people of those that responded experienced anxiety and depression they related to their sight loss.

1 in 4 said their sight loss has a negative impact on their personal relationships.

1 in 3 people were struggling financially.

The quality of life for people affected with severe sight loss was lower than those affected by diabetes, hearing loss, depression and even breast cancer.
