Our story

A group of us, working in the NHS and Health around Sheffield are coming together to attempt to reach the peak of Snowdon on Saturday 17th September. We are doing this as a memorial to our lovely friend and colleague Alastair Mew who left us far too soon earlier this year.

Alastair worked in the NHS. He was a fantastic friend, was full of energy and ideas, helpful and caring and helped others in so many different ways. He also had an amazing passion for the great outdoors.

His leaving created a massive ache in our hearts and we miss him so much.

In his memory, we are aiming to raise funds for charities which were close to his heart and to ours.

This will be an enormous challenge for most of us, as this will be the first time walking this far and walking up such a difficult mountain as Snowdon.

Andy's Man Club

ANDYSMANCLUB want to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and create a judgment-free, confidential space where men can be open about the storms in their lives. They aim to achieve this through weekly, free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups for men aged over 18.

Sheffield Cathedral Archer Project

Sheffield Cathedral Archer Project’s mission is to help homeless people achieve a better life by supporting them to:

1. Develop their independence.

2. Improve their ability to tackle setbacks.

3. Improve their ability to identify and change negative behaviour.

4. Improve their wellbeing.

The Trent River's Trust

The Trent Rivers Trusts vision is for the River Trent and its tributaries to be rich in wildlife habitats, landscape and historic features for the benefit of all, both now and in the future. Alastair was a Trustee for the charity from 2015
