Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On the 1st May we will both be riding for 15 hours on bike turbos. 15 hours, 1 hour for each year my Dad has had Parkinsons. Inspired by the current 2.6 challenge we will also be combining to spend 260 minutes at 260 Watts.
Ali will be raising funds for Parkinson's and Ian will be raising funds for Action for Children, a key charity given the impact Coronavirus 19 is having on society.
This will be quite a day out/in, especially for Ian who hasn't ridden for longer than 90 minutes in the last 2 years!!
So please donate if you can to help raise some funds to support these 2 very worthwhile charities. You can also link to our individual pages.
A bit more about Parkinson's disease. There is no cure for Parkinson's disease.
It starts small, a tremor, a stooped posture but overtime it worsens and impacts each part of your life. Sleeping, swallowing, smiling. Motor skills become harder, you can't tie your shoe laces, hold your cutlery, you lose your independence. A 10min walk to town becomes too much as muscles stiffen and co-ordination worsens. Your mental health can also suffer, hallucinations, Parkinson's dementia. The future you may have planned for in your 60's isn't the one you get to live.
A bit more about Action for Children
The current situation is tough on everyone, however, it is hitting the most vulnerable in society most. Action for Children have thousands of key workers across the UK working on the frontline helping the most vulnerable children and families.
