Story
We, Jamie and Sam, lost our mum to cancer in late 2021. Our mum, Karen Henry, was the best and most caring mother we could have asked for, and a friend to many, we miss her very dearly.
Near the end mum chose to be cared for by the lovely people at St Oswald's Hospice. The team at St Oswald's provided a comfortable and compassionate environment that allowed our mum to spend quality time with family and friends before she passed.
Our family saw first-hand the importance of hospice services like St Oswald’s in giving people an environment to pass with dignity and privacy whilst being surrounded by loved ones. This allows the patient to focus on spending valuable time with family and friends. Their work makes such a difference to families having to go through situations like we did.
We have decided to run the 2023 Emerson’s Dunedin Marathon to raise money for St Oswald’s in memory of our mum. We are very appreciative of our friends Alice, Zoe, Harrison, Jackson, Tom and Tai who have also decided to run the marathon to raise money for St Oswald’s. We all want to do our bit to ensure the kindness and quality care our mum received can be provided to other families in their hard times.
We are extremely grateful for any donations received. We would also love for you to share this page and spread the word. See you at the finish line on the 10th of September!
