What is Race for Recipients?
The #Race4Recipients challenge has been designed to encourage people to join together to talk about, celebrate, and highlight the significance of organ donation whilst encouraging people to get active.
This year it runs from 06:00 on Saturday the 21st September, until midnight on Sunday the 29th September.
The dates are set to coincide with Organ Donation Week. It's a key opportunity to educate and build knowledge, point people to information and remind people of the need to add their name to the Organ Donor Register and talk to their family.
Why we are raising money
We are taking the opportunity to also raise money for the Bristol Area Kidney Patient Association (BAKPA). They work to improve the treatment, welfare and comfort of kidney patients and their carers and families.
Recently, BAKPA subsidised kit and some of the costs associated with attending the British Transplant Games, meaning we were able to take a large team who all thoroughly enjoyed it. Following the games, we would like to give back to BAKPA and decided that Race for Recipients is a great way to do this.
We would really appreciate it if everyone shares our fundraiser and gives what they can. You can follow our progress on the Race for Recipients website and by following us on Facebook.
