Story
In November, we lost our dad after his battle with cancer. Nothing prepares you for watching someone you love go through that journey, and nothing truly prepares you for saying goodbye.
In his final days, Dad was cared for at Marie Curie Hospice. From the moment he arrived, the care and compassion shown to him, and to all of us, was nothing short of incredible.
The nurses and staff didn’t just look after Dad’s medical needs. They treated him with dignity, kindness and respect. They made him comfortable. They spoke to him gently. They listened. And they made sure that as a family, we were supported too. In the most painful and heartbreaking time of our lives, they gave us reassurance, warmth and space to simply be together.
Those final days will always be emotional for us, but because of Marie Curie, they were also filled with love. That is something we will forever be grateful for.
This June, our family is taking on the Beat the 3 Lochs 13 mile trail to raise money for Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow. We’re doing this in Dad’s memory and to say thank you. We want other families facing the unimaginable to receive the same level of care and support that we did.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Marie Curie continue their vital work, providing expert care, comfort and dignity to people living with terminal illness and supporting the families who love them.
We’re pushing ourselves for this challenge because we know how much their work matters.
Thank you for supporting us, for remembering Dad with us, and for helping Marie Curie continue to make a difference when it’s needed most.
