In March 2026 25 hardy trekkers will be undertaking a 100k trek along the “Camino Frances” route of the famous Camino de Santiago. They will be pulling together to make the pilgrimage from Sarria to Santiago in only 5 days! Their challenging endeavour is to raise much needed funds for Scottish based children’s mental health charity, The Polar Academy.

The charity provides a life altering physical and mental training programme for each participating child culminating in a winter expedition in the Arctic. The training and ultimate physical challenge in the depths of the Arctic has a transformative effect on each child, their school and their families. By working with “invisible” kids who struggle with confidence and self esteem or the ability to socialise or simply fit in - through perhaps anxiety or depression, trauma, bereavement or bullying - they are transformed into inspirational young role models endowed with respect, dignity, self belief, connections and kindness.
