Raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

So my name is Ben Cull I am 21 years old and I am fighting cancer not for the first but the second time in my young life! roughly 4 years ago my life changed drastically, where i was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer (4 in 70 Million people every year)- Ewings Sarcoma (bone cancer) it was in my right leg and at the time i was 17 coming up 18 and was playing football for Southampton FC Youth team and had represented England a few times. I was told i wouldn't play football again which is tough enough as it was my passion and my career all in one but i can't complain as i was very fortunate for the position i was in!! I like to consider my self a very lucky unlucky person!

I had a Knee operation to replace my knee and after that was told i had beaten the cancer that had flipped my life on its head on 06.07.17- Since then i went into the big wide world and found myself a passion in the Gym and became a PT and also got another job and was doing well for myself but it took me a year to find my feet and almost recover mentally to get back out there!

Sadly in one of my routine check up appointments every 3/4 months - I went in feeling the fittest, healthiest, happiest I had been in years, I had been working 60+ hours a week 6/7 days a week and was loving life as I had a holiday to paris booked for my 21st birthday! They had found an abnormality on the chest X-ray which is normally fine and was fine 4 month prior! They obviously couldn't give me an answer there and then so I had 3 weeks leading up to my 21st birthday having 4/5 tests and scans (MRI, Pet Scans, CTs etc) and spent more time off work due to this! and as test/scans came back it soon confirmed the relapse of the cancer i had 3/4 years prior and this time it has come back with vengeance -

I sadly have been diagnosed with Cancer AGAIN, I am 21. how many people do you know who have fought cancer before the age of 21 let alone twice!

My Dianosis- I have a 25mm tumour deep in the middle of my lungs with several other small ones spread about the place in other places in my lungs with potentially something in one of the vertebrae in my mid back! Sadly because it not just one tumour its not a case of Cutting it out and carrying on, it's sadly not looking like its going to go away! Doctors have told me that there is stuff they can and will do in course for treatments but eventually it will kill me! Facts- less than 10% live longer than 5 years with what I have! But everyone who knows me and knows me well - I am NOT NORMAL and i will be one of those weirdos that lives forever and beats it AGAIN!

But this isn't why I'm making this donating page, I was very and i mean very well looking after at Southampton General Hospital in the Teenage and Young Adult Ward - TYA - and this place is not NHS Funded! the facilities, activities put on and some of the amazing people that work there are completely reliant on the generous donations to the teenage cancer trust! The ward is a place to escape for many people similar to myself and the families of them which is completely different to a normal chemotherapy ward and much more private! It almost makes the treatment and time that people are going through manageable! Activities like a monthly dinner out for anyone on and having been on treatment in 5 years and concert tickets and days out etc which are mostly provided by the teenage cancer trust!

So my aim is to raise money, awareness and spread the word about the amazing people and facilities that have and will contribute to me and many lives of people going through what is essentially hell and something you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy!

I will be Fine but i want to do so much for other people so i will be doing things continuously to raise money so any spare pennies etc no matter how small mean so much to me and all donations go straight to the charity!

First of- With losing my hair most likely through treatment I am shaving my head today (24.11.19)
