Event: The Big Sleep Out March 2020 - Postponed Date TBD, on 26 March 2020
The Bridge is looking for volunteers to wrap up warm and brace themselves for a night out in the elements to raise awareness of homelessness and the reality of sleeping rough. They will see first hand what it might be like to homeless in winter.

Story

Members of DMU's Homeless Outreach society will be sleeping out to show our support to The Bridge for their work on the issue of homelessness in Leicester, and to help share the ways that students and staff can get involved. We are working alongside The Bridge to run the event on De Montfort's campus, and will be around on the night for a chat and to keep everyone updated on our events and how you can join us in the fight for homelessness!

At the latest count, there are over 40 people sleeping rough on Leicester's streets. This number is unfortunately growing. At The Bridge Homelessness to Hope, we support those that are on the streets by providing food provisions, support, laundry cleaning, showers and food parcels. As a charity, our services cannot commence without generous donations from fundraising.

Volunteers will spend the night under the stars for a taste of what street homelessness might be like with only cardboard, a sleeping bag, flasks and the clothes on their back for warmth.
