Raising money for Barts Charity

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023 · 2 April 2023 ·

Our amazing team of 20 runners are coming together for this fantastic event to raise funds to drive forward the healthcare improvements that will shape a better, fairer future for East London and beyond.

Story

In November 2020, Sarah, amazing wife to Robbie, mother to Zac and Zara, Twin and Sister to Cara and Helen, and friend to so many found out she had triple-negative breast cancer. We had never heard of Triple Negative before, but soon found out it was a very aggressive cancer.

A brutal regime of chemo started, followed by surgery and radiotherapy. By the end of September 2021, finally active treatment had finished. We thought the worst was behind us.

However, heartbreakingly In April 2022, we found out that her cancer had returned with a vengeance and was terminal. Devastatingly on 22nd May Sarah passed away.

You have arrived at our Team Sarah Page.

Team Sarah is made up of 16 of Sarah’s friends and family. You can see each of our personal stories below. We all want to run the London Half to show our support, raise awareness about this brutal disease and raise money in order to benefit others in a similar situation. Most of all we want to make Sarah proud.

Knowing Breast Cancer exists is not enough. Get informed. Pass it on

Sarah's cancer was so aggressive and time was so important.

Bart's Charity are supporting the "Bart's 900" campaign. The campaign coincides with the 900th anniversary of health care at St Bartholomew's Hospital. (900 years, that is crazy, right!)

The Bart's 900 campaign is looking to fund 2 medical centers, one of which is a dedicated Breast Care center at St Bart's.

This new Breast Cancer Centre will be a state-of-the-art facility and l bring together surgery and post-surgery care in one place, improving every stage of the patient experience.

As well as improving breast cancer outcomes for patients today, it will also help make a significant contribution to global research, saving lives for generations.

If this existed for Sarah, who knows what different this would have made for her.

A group of us would like to help others in a similar situation to Sarah by raising money for the truly amazing cause.

In April 2023, we will be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference
