Story
We are a group of friends running the 2023 Edinburgh Half Marathon to raise money for the charity MND Scotland and to raise awareness of MND.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is an incurable, neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurones, specialist nerve cells in the brain and spine which work to activate muscles, causing them to degenerate.
MND Scotland‘s strategy focuses on “making time count”. They use funding to provide vital support to individuals diagnosed with MND and their family including provision of care workers, support modifying living spaces to improve quality of life, and counselling for families and loved ones. All of this work helps the people affected by MND make the most of their time and prepare for the next steps of the disease.
We are certain that all money raised will have a significant positive impact on future individuals who are diagnosed with MND in Scotland, and go a long way in supporting their families and loved ones when they need that support the most.
This is a significant challenge for most of us in the group, and will be by far the furthest some of us have ever run! All donations would be greatly appreciated for this worthwhile cause!
