Raising money for Amnesty International UK

UK Kilimanjaro 27th August 2026 Student · 27 August 2026 to 5 September 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

A team of students at Glasgow University will be raising money for Amnesty International UK and preparing to trek Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak in 2026.

Story

We are raising money for Amnesty International UK by taking part in the Mount Kilimanjaro Challenge. Where we will be climbing the highest mountain in Africa over the course of nine-days, facing extreme temperatures, altitude and challenging terrain along the way.

This page is for a joint event between us (Henry and Alex) where we will be climbing the height equivalence of the mountain within our university library stairwell. Climbing repeatedly to the tenth floor of the University of Glasgow library 146.5 times nonstop. It will be an intense gruelling test of our minds and bodies in order to try and summit 5,895m or 19,341ft in under 48 hours.

Your donations will help Amnesty International UK expose human rights abuses in the UK and all over the world and to campaign for freedom and justice. Amnesty International UK work on a wide range of issues including women's rights, refugee rights, the human rights impact of climate change and in support of individuals whose rights have been violated.
