Story
UPDATE FROM ASHLEY: Hi All, just a quick update to let you know that I completed my Hilly Coastal Marathon on the 14th June in 5 hrs 28. Not a fast time but I got there in the end. Very happy to have been the first to complete our MND challenge. So that is 1 down and 3 to go. thank you all for your wonderful cards, sponsorship and messages of support. Big Love Ash x
UPDATE FROM DORIAN: Ashley is seriously playing down this achievement. She had originally signed up to a different marathon in Dartmorr which was hillyish, but this race was unexpectedly cancelled with just a few weeks to go.
Due to the fact that she had been training towards a set date, she needed to find a replacement pronto - Rame Head in Devon what was fitted - but each of the 4 loops that makes up the marathon involved climb and descent of 189 metres.
I did the maths - She essentially ran up (and down) the equivalent of Mount Snowden. Amazing.
UPDATE ON VADS:
Vads goes next weekend Sydney Marathon! Go Vads!!
18th May 2018 was the date Motor Neurone Disease (MND) changed our family in a very profound way. However, it took hold 18mths prior when Maxine Hobday, our mum, was diagnosed – at that stage we didn’t know what lay ahead.
Many diseases wreak havoc, but in our opinion MND is one of the cruellest. It took away our mum in a horrific manner and way too soon. If you knew Maxi, you would have known that she didn’t mince her words, loved her family fiercely and approached each day with purpose. Her body gave up, but her mind remained stoic.
More needs to be done to understand this disease but also support those enduring it. The charity we are championing does it all. The MND Association funds research, improves care and provides support for people with MND, their families and carers.

We run, and you cheer us on in the form of cash (please)!!
In 2025 we are each running a marathon:
14th June - Rame Head Race (UK) (Ashley) very hilly!
31st August - Sydney (AU) (Evadne)
14th September - Richmond (UK) (Dorian & Imogen)
Evadne, Dorian, Imogen and Ashley.
All funds will be directed to the BRISTOL & BATH MNDA group - they are particularly close to our hearts as it is they who provided such great support to Mum as she suffered with MND.
