Story
On the 27th May (the day after Grandad’s birthday) Kris and I are doing a 30km-ish trek (we originally planned 26km, but someone kept changing the route!) across London. We are starting at Arsenal football stadium and ending at the New Wimbledon Theatre walking past as many stadiums and theatres on the way. We chose to do a trek as our Grandad loved to go for a walk and we chose this route as football and theatre are our passions and ones we have been lucky enough to share our love of with our Grandad.

Pancreatic Cancer for Grandad
It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case.
Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to taking on this injustice using every possible means. They're supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.
Our wonderful Grandad had previously fought 2 separate cancers in his life time so when he was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer he really couldn't face the idea of going through chemo again. Unfortunately the decision was taken away from him anyway and he couldn't understand why it wouldn't have worked this time. He was given the 3 month prognosis but was in hospital within weeks of his diagnosis and then into a care home. He died peacefully having spent his last few days living under the same roof as his wife, which he hadn't done for years. He didn't make 2 months after his diagnosis! By the time we knew it was too late and he was too ill for us to be able to organise any last minute dreams. He would have loved to go on holiday one last time but it just wasn't feasible.
We hope the money we raise can help find a way to fight this cancer so other families don't have to go through this.
Alzheimer's for Nan
Vascular dementia is a common type of dementia caused by reduced blood flow to the brain. It's estimated to affect around 150,000 people in the UK.
There is currently no "cure" for dementia. In fact, because dementia is caused by different diseases it is unlikely that there will be a single cure for dementia. Research is aimed at finding cures for dementia-causing diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies.
We lost Grandad to pancreatic cancer last year, Nan was his everything. She has been living with vascular dementia for many years and we promised to look after her for him. We know he would want us to raise money for a cure so no one else has to lose the person they know to this horrible disease.
