Story
Dear Friends and Families:
VOA Together is our new peer-to-peer fundraising campaign that is vital to meet the challenge of COVID-19.
Simply put, our costs are going up and our revenues are going down. We are so grateful that a generous donor has provided a match for every dollar raised. We can do this—together!
Since early March, COVID-19 has made a tremendous impact on each individual and family we serve at VOA Mid-States. With more than 600 residents across four states, we are spending $6,000 per month on additional meals at Unity House, our emergency housing option for families experiencing homelessness together.
Of our 600 residents, more than half are over the age of 60 and are high-risk for the impacts of COVID-19. We offer housing for low-income seniors, and offer around-the-clock care and support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We also support men and women in addiction recovery, and most of our women are pregnant or parenting and need additional safety measures to protect the health of themselves and their babies. For these high-risk populations, we are spending an additional $10,000 per month to purchase medical and safety equipment (including PPE, cleaning products, hand sanitizer and other needs) to protect the health of all of our residents.
We are so committed to all of our clients and will do everything we can to keep them safe. We can’t do this alone, but we can do this together.
