🏃♂️ Two Michaels, One Challenge – Running for Breast Cancer Now & Tidy Butt 💗💙
On 6th December 2025, we’ll be taking on the Font Vella Lanzarote International Marathon event — with me, Michael Smith, running the Half Marathon, and my close family friend, Michael Marsh, running the Full Marathon.
We’re running to raise funds for two causes that mean everything to us. 💗 For Breast Cancer Now, in honour of my wife’s journey and the incredible support she received through her treatment and recovery. 💙 And for Tidy Butt, in memory of my nephew Connor Redman (CJ), who we tragically lost this year at just 19, to help break the stigma around men’s mental health.
Every step we take is for them — and for all those still fighting, still struggling, and those we’ve lost too soon.
💗 For My Wife – Breast Cancer Now
In 2023, my amazing wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a moment that shook us to the core. She faced chemotherapy and radiotherapy with incredible courage, and though the treatment ended, the journey continued. The support she received from Breast Cancer Now’s Moving Forward programme was invaluable — offering her not just information and guidance, but a safe, supportive space to begin rebuilding emotionally and practically.
Breast Cancer Now funds life-saving research and provides essential services to people living with and beyond breast cancer. Running for them is my way of honouring my wife’s strength, giving back to the charity that supported her, and helping ensure that other families receive the same life-changing support when they need it most.
💙 For Connor – Tidy Butt
This challenge is also dedicated to my nephew, Connor Redman (CJ), who we so tragically lost on 25th July 2025, at just 19 years old. Connor was a kind, funny, and talented young man, but he struggled silently with his mental health. Like far too many young men, he carried a heavy weight he couldn’t share — and our family was left devastated when we lost him to suicide.
I am raising funds for Tidy Butt, a local mental health charity that works to break the stigma around mental health, create open conversations, and provide real support for men and young people. Running in Connor’s memory is my way of honouring his life, raising awareness, and helping ensure that other young men get the support they need before it’s too late.
🌍 Why These Causes Matter
Breast Cancer Now gives families hope and vital support in the fight against breast cancer.
Tidy Butt helps prevent silent struggles from becoming silent tragedies.
Both are causes that desperately need awareness and funding — and this challenge is our way of standing up for them both.
