Story

We're taking part in the Team Autism: Workplace 5k Challenge for The National Autistic Society.

We are completing a team 5k walk in Attenborough Nature reserve as a team for Autism Awareness Month in April 2026.

Personal Link - Rebecca who works as Commercial Director for Arcadis as part of the LETD scheme has a son Max, who is 9 years old and confirmed autistic. Rebecca has shared her personal story and experiences of parenting a child with Autism.

Autistic people face significant discrimination and barriers across all sectors of society, including health and social care, education, employment, and other core measures of life outcomes. Here are some important facts:

- Only 26% of autistic children are happy at school.

- Just 30% of autistic people are in employment—one of the lowest rates among disabled people.

- 70% of autistic young people experience mental health problems, compared to 13% of their non-autistic peers.

- Autistic people are four times more likely to experience loneliness and social isolation than non-autistic people.

As the UK’s leading autism charity, the National Autistic Society strives to create a society that truly works for autistic people. However, they cannot do this alone. With your support, we can help fight for the rights of over 700,000 autistic adults and children across the UK.

Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.
