Raising money for Duchenne UK

Thames Path Ultra Challenge 2025 · 13 September 2025 to 14 September 2025 ·

As the leading Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) charity in the UK, we want to find effective treatments for DMD and end its devastating impact. We’re going further than anyone has before, and we’re doing it faster, because this generation of people living with DMD can’t wait.

Story

For the last 10 years, our family has fundraised for Duchenne UK on behalf of our young friend Tom, diagnosed with the disease when he was 4. He is now 16 and in more need of a cure than ever.

Maddy is tackling the 100 Thames path challenge on 13th September. Nicki will be joining her at the 50k point to take on the overnight 50km. These distances represent a significant challenge for us both! We intend to give everything we have to help Tom and the other boys out there with Duchenne.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a devastating muscle-wasting disease. It is the most common and severe form of muscular dystrophy. Diagnosed in childhood, it mainly affects boys. Started by families affected by the disease, Duchenne UK is the leading DMD charity in the UK: connecting the best researchers with industry, the NHS and families to advance and accelerate every stage of drug development. Together, we will end Duchenne.
