This year I am celebrating 40 years of running and wanted to do something a bit different to mark the occasion, whilst raising money for charity in memory of my mum, but a knee injury got in the way. Fast forward a few months, my friend Tracy Chapman sadly lost her beloved dad to Dementia so we decided to do something mad to raise money for Dementia Uk.
To kick off we are doing a 2 day challenge over the weekend of 27-28th September, 4-5 mile kayak/ paddle board on the Stour from Grove Ferry followed by a 8.5 mile run from Canterbury to Whitstable along the Crab and Winkle Way. The following day we are cycling from Tankerton to Dover around the Viking coastal path (45-50 miles). We have around 12 great friends who are joining us for some or all of it.
During October, we and family and friends are completing further challenges including:
Walking/running 1,000,000 steps during October- Tracy
Walking/running or biking 4.0 miles per day and holding a plank for 4 minutes- me
10 thousand steps per day - Tracy’s mum (Carol Maas)
At least 7,000 steps per day - Mike Bond
Canterbury 20 mile trail run - Sylvia Barrett
Tracy’s daughter Abbi (age 13) - 30 push ups, 30 sit ups and 30 v sits per day
Aleisha and Henry Cox - at least one mile every day.
MariaLoader - 10 minutes of skipping, 10,00 steps and 100 sit ups per day
Other friends and family are adding to the challenges, details to follow…
It would really mean so much to us if you would consider helping us to reach our target in memory of our parents who lost their lives to this cruel and devastating disease.
Thank you for reading xx
