Story

On March 1st we'll be running a backyard ultra challenge around Silverdale Country Park raising funding for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. We’ll be doing to this run in memory of the great Rob Burrow who’s campaigning and positivity inspired and gave thousands hope that MND one will be defeated. MND isn't incurable, it's just under-funded.

The last 100 mile run in January 2023 raised over £7000 towards a specialist MND Centre in Rob’s name in Leeds . This time we would like to raise even more funds. To do this we are looking to sign up a small army of runners.

Would you like to take the backyard ultra challenge? What’s a backyard ultra? You run the same 4.167 mile loop on the hour, every hour for as long as you can.

If you want to join the team, your challenge could be 6 hours/25 miles or 12 hours/50 miles or maybe even the full 100 miles.

Here's the team signed so far

Gareth - 24 loops/100 miles/24 hours

Gio Capodici - 24 loops/100 miles/24 hours

Ian Glover - 24 loops/100 miles/24 hours

Darren Bloor 24 loops/100 miles/24 hours

Trevor Hoyle 24 loops/100 miles/24 hours

Paul Marshal 24 loops/100 miles/24 hours

Pat Buckingham 24 loops/100 miles/24 hours

Chris Hall - 12 loops/50 miles/12 hours

Dean Higginbottom - 12 loops/50 miles/12 hours

Tim West 6 loops/25 miles/12 hours

Tim Goode 6 loops/25 miles/12 hours

Emma Perry 6 loops/25 miles/6 hours

Sue Kirby 6 loops/25 miles/6 hours

Diane Brassington 6 loops/25 miles/6 hours

The best thing about the last challenge was everyone that turned up throughout the run to support and run a lap. Let’s do it all again. The spirit of the running community got me round the park. It would be amazing if you all turned out again.

Thank you all your support and we will beat this disease together.
