Story
Hi, this is Al Gainey and Alan Lansdowne.
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.
On Friday, 3rd July, we’re taking on the Big Walk Challenge (30 miles / 48.3km across the Peak District) to support University of Sheffield research into lung disease.
By sponsoring us, you'll help to move safe lung scanning technology from the lab into the hands of doctors who are caring for children with lung conditions.
For any baby born before 32 weeks, breathing is a struggle. A third of these infants are at risk of developing lung disease (Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia or BPD), a condition that can affect them for life.
Because standard scans use radiation that is too dangerous for these babies, doctors are forced to treat them without seeing the full picture. This means removing a baby from a ventilator is a game of guesswork and risks terrifying complications.
Your support ensures that these brave children - who are already fighting the most serious battle of their lives - can be diagnosed safely. This helps provide parents with the reassurance that they need.
You’ll be helping to improve imaging technology for children who desperately need it.
For a child suffering with cystic fibrosis or asthma, you are providing the technology that will shape a healthier future.
Every mile you sponsor will help lift the burden of fear from a parent’s shoulders.
Thank you for helping us reach our fundraising goal!
