Raising money for Multiple Sclerosis Society

Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

I was diagnosed with RRMS in November 2015 at the age of 27, after a year long of symptoms starting November 2014. I had only been married just over a month and mine and my husband's lives had been turned upside down with this diagnosis.

I had woken up one morning as usual, and as I was getting ready for a normal day at work, I had a blackout. This was the beginning of my symptoms and a year long road to diagnosis with endless MRI tests, being told it's just stress, being rushed to A&E with intense chest pains, lumbar punctures and so on. During this period, I went through depression and anxiety, with all the not knowing and ideas of what could be wrong me. That day of my first blackout was the last day I was able to work, and life as I had known it. Since my diagnosis I have been trying to get my head around a disease I knew nothing about and how to live with this diagnosis.

The 'MonSter' has taken a lot from me but has also given me a lot. I am grateful for the lessons in compassion, empathy, sympathy and genuine thankfulness for every moment of every day. I'm grateful for the little things that most people, including myself, have taken for-granted.

After going through the depression that comes along with MS, I have learned to retrain my thinking and find something positive in every day. I have been inspired to follow my dreams and have immersed myself in my passion 'Glam By Gupsie' Makeup Artistry (MUA), a therapeutic outlet for expressing myself.

I'm now finding new little ways of taking back control and keeping calm through meditation and mindfulness. Every day I fight a battle that no one can see and I will continue to, until a cure is found. I am a warrior and will never give up this fight!

Live in your light and truth, I hope sharing my story inspires those suffering to find their passion, surround themselves with positivity and live fully...
