The Murphy 100 mile Cycle Challenge

Raising money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably)

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

A group of colleagues at J.Murphy & Sons, decided we wanted to help raise funds for CALM. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45 and construction has the highest suicide rate of any industry in the UK. CALM is leading a movement against suicide and offer life-saving services and campaigns to drive cultural change.

We decided to cycle between two of our offices in the North of the UK. The route will be over 100 miles long from Stonecross to Ollerton across the Peak district. The route will be a gruelling challenge over the peak district, including the famous Cat & fiddle category 2 climb! For many in the team, this will be the first time they have cycled 100 miles and they are certainly jumping in at the deep end with such a tough route!
