Team fundraising for Newton Dee

Raising money for Newton Dee

Newton Dee Camphill Community is a charity where adults with learning difficulties and coworkers live and work together. By living and working together we aim to break down the barrier between the carer and cared for, to meet each other as people, helping one another.

Story

We did it!

One of us always cycled for the 24 hours of the Strathpuffer (more infor below). We managed to do four laps each in very tough conditions with the snow having melted and the bikes needing to be ploughed and often pushed through slushy snow. On Newton Dee's social media you will be able to see some of the action. We supported each other as a team and persevered. Thank you for all the well wishes, congratulations and donations!

Your support has been incredible, we were able to increase the fundraising target and superseded the final fundraising goal nevertheless.

The members of one quad taking part at the Strathpuffer 24h hour endurance bike race were motivated to combine their personal challenge with the support of the Newton Dee Camphill Community.

The renowned Strathpuffer 24hour endurance mountain bike race 2026 took place in the Scottish Highlands on the 10th-11th Januray 2026. The four of us took turns to ride the 12km long course in a relay format. It was a real team effort to have one of us always riding in the tough winter conditions.

Based on the positive experience of the KiltWalk it seemed to make sense to combine thrilling outdoor activities with fundraising.

We are continuing to raise funds for our Capital Development Fund. Our current project is the construction of a new Bakery and Confectionery. For those who know us, our Bakery and Confectionery are very popular. Baking fabulous artisan breads, delicious cakes, and the best scones and croissants.

We work together with adults with learning difficulties and other special needs to build skills and provide meaningful work. We focus on what we can do, not what our disabilities are. But our current Bakery and Confectionery building has seen better days. And the required repairs would mean closing these busy and much-loved workshops for over a year to carry out all the necessary work. So instead, we started to build a new building up near our Store and Cafe. All our shops and public gateways in one convenient location. This would also help reduce traffic and make the centre of our village a lot safer. The wonderful community support approach of inclusive social development will be further enhanced with the about to be mostly pedestrianised centre of Newton Dee.

The new Bakery and Confectionery will also be much more efficient, reducing our carbon footprint and running costs for heating, and it will improve the layout and function of the spaces as a therapeutic workshop.

This will allow ideas for a central space for the community and those joining the workshops during the day to become reality in the location of the old Bakery and Confectionery.
