Story
We are running the 2025 London Marathon to honour our beloved mum, Nikky, who tragically passed away from stage 4 thalamic glioblastoma—a rare and aggressive brain tumour. Mum touched so many lives with her passion for music, books, and France. She had a beautiful spirit and a wide circle of friends across London, Brighton, and beyond, all of whom were deeply affected by her passing.
Mum would never have dreamed of running a marathon—she was far more at home on long walks in the Downs or in France—but she was always incredibly supportive of Joe and me in our athletic pursuits. Last year, we walked 26.2 miles from Brighton to Eastbourne in her memory, and this year, Macmillan has kindly invited us to run for them.
Nikky was an incredibly healthy person, and the fact that she passed away at just 61 is a stark reminder of how indiscriminate cancer can be. But Mum wouldn’t want us to dwell on the unfairness of it—she would want us to keep pushing forward.
In her memory, we (Joe, Frank, and Kane) are aiming to raise £7,500 to fund research and provide support for those affected by brain tumours. Over the coming months, we’ll be doing everything we can—both on and off the marathon course—to raise as much as possible.
Your support means the world to us. Every donation, no matter how small, helps keep Nikky’s spirit alive and brings us closer to making a real difference for others facing this disease.
Thank you for helping us honour Nikky’s memory and support such an important cause
